Ronnie Wood has opened up about his past substance abuse problems, admitting that he would often get desperate for drugs in the 1980s.
In a recent interview with Britain's News of the World, the Rolling Stones legend says he even once mistook sugar for crack cocaine.
"It got to the point where I would be on my hands and knees looking for crumbs that might have fallen out of the crack pipe," he said. "I even banned my children eating meringues in the house after I ended up smoking sugar, believing it to be cocaine."
Wood's alcoholism also became the stuff of legend, but he is now sober and says he can't imagine going back to the bottle.
"It was just a downward spiral," he said. "When the last bottle went, it was the end of an era. Something clicked in me."
