Chip maker Qualcomm on Tuesday said it was partnering with Lenovo on the world's first Snapdragon-powered smart TV. The announcement was made by Qualcomm CEO Dr. Paul Jacobs during his keynote address to the 2012 International Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas.

The new Lenovo device will use the dual-core Android-based Snapdragon processor for voice-activated speedy streaming over the TV.

Earlier in the speech, Jaconbs gave a quick demo of Windows 8, which will also be powered by Snapdragon. Always on and always connected, Windows 8 is making techies anxious for Microsoft to bring the operating system to market in 2012.

"We now expect instant access to information and entertainment," said Jacobs.

Also, Gameloft, a global publisher of social and digital games, and Qualcomm announced that the advanced, mobile first-person shooter (FPS) game, Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation, will be shown at the Qualcomm Booth during CES.
