After a three week engagement to long time friend William Wilkerson, Aretha Franklin has called off the wedding plans.
The marriage would have been the third for the soul singer, who says that the decision was made as things were "moving a little too fast":
"Regretfully, Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast. There were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly. There will be no wedding at this time. We will not comment on it any further because of the very personal and sensitive nature of it. We appreciate all of the many well wishes from friends."
The Queen of Soul had begun making plans for the wedding, saying the two planned to marry in Miami Beach this summer, which would have been followed by a private reception on a yacht.
