State Auto Financial Q4 Profit Rises - Quick Facts

State Auto Financial Corp. (STFC) reported fourth quarter net income of $100.6 million, or $2.49 per share, up from $37.6 million, or $0.94 per share, for the fourth quarter of 2010. Net income from operations per share for the fourth quarter 2011 was $2.30, versus $0.78 for the same 2010 period.

Total revenues for the quarter rose to $401.1 million from $356.9 million in the prior year quarter.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.44 per share on revenues of $386.65 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

President Donald Trump intends to nominate antitrust attorney Joseph Simons as chairman of the Federal Trade Commission, the White House announced on Thursday.
