The Swiss stock market is showing modest gains in mid-day trading on Friday.

Increased confidence about a solution to the Greek debt crisis has helped push markets up across the board in Europe. The rise is part of a general rally that has taken place so far this year, with the Swiss market up around 5 percent so far in 2012.

The benchmark SMI is higher by 0.1 percent at 6,223.26. The index had reached as high as 6,260. The SLI has gained 0.3 percent to 947.58. The SPI has advanced 0.18 percent to 5,642.44.

Holcim is among the notable gainers on the day. The stock is up 2.8 percent, one of the best performances among the blue chips. Shares are getting a boost from strong results from French competitor Lafarge.
