A high-level delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) arrived in the Iranian capital Tehran on Monday morning for further talks on the Islamic Republic's disputed nuclear program.
"We hope to have a couple of good and constructive days in Tehran," Iran's Press TV quoted delegation head Herman Nackaerts, Deputy Director-General of the U.N. nuclear watchdog, as saying prior to departure of the five-member team from Vienna airport on Sunday night.
Nackaerts also expressed optimism that the two-day talks with Iranian authorities would yield "real results," but did not comment further.
Iranian nuclear energy officials and an IAEA team had wrapped up three days of negotiations in a "positive and constructive atmosphere" in Tehran on January 31.
The IAEA team is visiting Iran for the second time in less than a month following its November 2011 report indicating Iran's move to develop atomic weapons under its disputed nuclear program.
However, Iran maintains that its nuclear program is entirely for civilian purpose. Tehran also argues that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the IAEA, it has the right to develop and acquire nuclear technology meant for peaceful purposes.
