American National Insurance Q4 Profit Rises

American National Insurance Co. (ANAT) Monday reported fourth-quarter net income of $56.14 million or $2.10 per share, compared to $35.57 million or $1.33 per share in the same period last year.

Fourth-quarter operating earnings, which exclude some investment gains, improved to $34.54 million or $1.29 per share from $20.21 million or $0.76 per share last year.

Net realized investment gains for the quarter was $21.60 million or $0.81 per share compared to $15.36 million or $0.57 per share last year.

Revenues for the quarter were $776.66 million compared to $784.89 million last year.
