Blur have confirmed that they will be headlining a special concert which will coincide with the closing of the London 2012 Olympics.
The band's outdoor show will take place on August 12 at Hyde Park with giant screens at the park showing the highlights of the closing ceremony. The show, which has been billed a Best of British event, will also include opening sets from New Order and the Specials.
The band confirmed their concert on Twitter, and frontman Damon Albarn added to NME that the show would be "brilliant":
"It'll be a proper party. It's the closing night of the Olympics. Our raison d'etre is to provide another celebration of a fantastic day."
Blur have confirmed that they are working together on new material, but have not given details of a reunion or album together.
