TSX Slips At Open Thursday

Bay Street stocks opened lower Thursday amid marginal selling across a variety of sectors, with the S&P/TSX Composite Index shedding 21.52 points or 0.17 percent to 12,679.73.

In the oil patch, Lundin Mining (LUN.TO) shed 1 percent after reporting a sharp decline in its fourth quarter net income. While Suncor Energy (SU.TO) eased 0.20 percent, Niko Resources (NKO.TO) was adding 0.25 percent.

Among gold stocks, NovaGold Resources (NG.TO) edged up 0.25 percent after reporting a narrower full-year net loss.

Global gold miner Yamana Gold (YRI.TO) gained nearly 2 percent on reporting adjusted fourth quarter earnings of $0.25 per share, which beat consensus by a penny.

Meanwhile, silver streaming company Pan American Silver (PAA.TO) slipped 0.20 percent even after it swung to profit in fourth quarter.
