Spain Producer Price Inflation Slows More Than Expected

Spanish producer price inflation slowed more than expected in January, the statistical office INE showed Friday.

Producer price inflation eased to 3.6 percent in January from 5.2 percent in December, also came in weaker than the expected rate of 4.3 percent.

On a monthly comparison, producer prices moved up 0.8 percent in January, reversing a 0.1 percent fall a month ago.

The producer price index for consumer goods grew at a slower pace of 2.2 percent annually, while that for durable consumer goods rose at a slightly faster pace of 1.9 percent.

The annual growth in capital goods prices and intermediate goods eased to 1 percent and 1.7 percent, respectively. Energy price growth fell to 9.2 percent from 14 percent.
