Tourist arrivals in Turkey increased at a markedly slower pace in January, data released by the Ministry of Tourism showed Friday.
The number of foreign tourists visiting the country increased 0.60 percent on an annual basis to 981,611 in January, notably faster than the 2.47 percent growth recorded in December. In November, the rate of growth in arrivals was 7.06 percent.
As many as 0.68 percent of tourists who visited the country in January were excursionists, the agency said.
Swedish nationals recorded the biggest growth in arrivals during the month,whose number increased 29.47 percent year-on-year. The number of tourists from Germany increased 1.58 percent annually, while arrivals from France dropped 6.54 percent.
