Jacob Zuma, President of South Africa, said former President Nelson Mandela is expected to be discharged from hospital either Sunday or Monday. He said Mandela is in a satisfactory condition, and is comfortable.
Mandela was admitted to hospital to investigate the causes of a long-standing abdominal complaint.
"Madiba is fine and fully conscious and the doctors are satisfied with his condition, which they say is consistent with his age. He was in good health before admission in hospital but doctors felt the complaint needed a thorough investigation", said Zuma.
The former President underwent a diagnostic procedure as part of his ongoing medical management.
