Finnish Consumer Morale At 7-Month High, Manufacturing Confidence Picks Up

Finland's consumer confidence improved to the highest level in seven months in February, data released by Statistics Finland showed Monday.

The consumer confidence index rose to 8.3 in February from 3.4 in January. The latest figure was the highest since July 2011, when the reading was 11.3.

Among components of the headline index, the indicator of consumers' views of the economy in the 12-month period improved sharply in February, with the relevant indicator climbing to -2.2 from -13 in January.

Meanwhile, the indicator of consumers perceptions of their personal finances dropped modestly to 5.8 in February from 6.1 in the previous month.

Finnish households' were more upbeat about their saving possibilities in the coming 12-month period, with the corresponding index rising to 47.1 in February from 44 in the previous month.

Separately, data released by the Confederation of Finnish Industries showed that Finland's manufacturing confidence picked up in February. The relevant indicator increased to -3 points in February from January's revised reading of -9. Production expectations were modestly positive, while order books recovered during the month.
