Bin Laden's Pakistani Mansion Demolished

Bulldozers on Monday completed demolition of the three-storey mansion of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in the Pakistani garrison town of Abbottabad where the terror mastermind lived for at least five years until he was detected and killed by helicopter-borne U.S. Special Forces in May last.

According to Pak media reports, only the building's boundary wall was left intact and security forces were guarding the compound.

The demolition work began late on Saturday in the compound which has been under the control of Pakistani security forces since the May 2 midnight operation by the U.S. Navy Seals.

The U.S. raid by not informing Pakistan had soured relations between the two countries and it was considered a great humiliation to the nuclear-armed Pakistan's powerful military.
