Taylor Swift has extended an invitation to cancer patient Kevin McGuire to accompany her to the American Country Music Awards on April 1.
McGuire's sister had previously begun a Facebook campaign/page titled "Taylor Swift Take Kevin McGuire to Prom." The page has accumulated over 400,000 followers since its inception.
Swift responded to the invite with an invite of her own:
"Kevin, I'm so sorry but I won't be able to make it to your prom. But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up . . . Would you be my date? Love, Taylor."
McGuire accepted the invite, but it is not clear whether he will be able to attend as he is currently undergoing treatment at a Philadelphia hospital for his leukemia. It is the second time the 18-year-old has suffered cancer.
