Kaman Corp. (KAMN: Quote) reported fourth-quarter net income of $9.96 million or $0.38 per share, compared to $14.02 million or $0.53 per share in the year-ago quarter.

Excluding items, adjusted net income for the quarter was $13.93 million or $0.53 per share, down from $20.39 million or $0.77 per share in the comparable quarter last year. On average, six analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.49 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net sales for the fourth quarter rose to $378.72 million from $365.12 million a year ago, while five analysts estimated revenue of $394.74 million for the fourth quarter.

Senate Republicans once again voted Monday to block a Democratic bill aimed at narrowing the national gender wage gap. The Senate voted 52 to 40 in favor of limiting debate on the Paycheck Fairness Act, falling well short of the 60 votes required.
