Monkees Singer Davy Jones Dies At Age 66

Monkees front man, Davy Jones, has passed away after suffering a heart attack on the morning of Wednesday, February 29. TMZ.com confirmed the news with an official from the Martin County, Florida medical examiner's office.

Jones joined the group at its formation in 1965 along with Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork.

Their hits, including "I'm a Believer," "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone," "Daydream Believer" and "Last Train to Clarksville," helped the band sell over 50 million records worldwide.

The group split in 1971 after its corresponding television program went off the air, but Jones would lead later incarnations of it; he also had a successful solo music and acting career.

He is survived by his wife and four daughters.
