Kid Rock formally endorsed Mitt Romney for the Republican presidential primary earlier this week. The singer appeared at Romney's rally in Michigan on Monday the day before that state's Republican primary and performed his song "Born Free," which has also served as Romney's campaign theme song. Kid Rock reportedly met with Romney prior to the event and sought assurances from the candidate that he would look out for Michigan and the city of Detroit if he was elected President.
Despite Romney's stress on family values and traditional morality during his campaign, Kid Rock's bad boy, outlaw persona was not a problem.
The Republican candidate told a Detroit radio station: "I think that he makes some pretty good music and I like listening to his music. And when I listen to the people who provide music I don't actually try to assess their personal family values," he said. "I listen to their music."
