Romania's retail sales increased from last year in January, data released by the National Institute of Statistics showed Friday.
Retail sales turnover, excluding sales of automobiles, increased a seasonally and working-day adjusted 9.9 percent on an annual basis in January.
Retail sales of food, beverages and tobacco rose 3.8 percent annually, while sales of automotive fuels in specialized stores advanced 33.1 percent. There was a 6.5 percent annual growth in sales of food products.
Month-on-month, retail sales increased a seasonally adjusted 2.9 percent in January. However, on an unadjusted basis sales decreased 27.8 percent during the month.
