The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach gave Dr. John a hand during the recording process of the latter's latest album, Locked Down.
Speaking with Rolling Stone, Auerbach said it was a privilege to watch the New Orleans legend in the studio:
"Watching him come up with parts was just so awesome. Mac is fearless. Like that Farfisa solo on 'Revolution' - that's a first-take solo. He just goes for it, man. He told me he hadn't played a Farfisa organ since 1969 when he was with Doug Sahm, and he killed it."
In a separate interview Dr. John had kind words for Auerbach:
"It was way cool cutting this record with Dan and the crew he put together for it. It's real hip."
The track Auerbach mentioned, "Revolution," is currently available for free streaming via RollingStone.com. Locked Down is due April 3.
