Jennifer Hudson will be called on to testify in the April 9 trial of William Balfour, the man accused of killing her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew in 2008.
Hudson told the police that she had spoken to her mother hours before she was found dead and intimated that something was awry.
Balfour, the estranged husband of J-Hud's sister, is connected to the murders by a gun police recovered. Prosecutors argue that he committed the crime in a "jealous rage." Balfour thought that his wife was seeing another man and allegedly told his wife "her family would suffer if he saw her with other men."
Hudson also informed prosecutors that she had known Balfour since childhood and had urged her sister to not marry him.
Balfour's lawyer called the prosecution's case "a quilt with holes in it."
