Superior Industries International Inc. (SUP: Quote) Monday posted a rise in fourth-quarter profit to $40.2 million, or $1.48 per share, from the prior-year's $22.3 million, or $0.82 per share, thanks largely to a hefty tax benefit. Income before income taxes and equity earnings fell to $12.0 million from last year's $22.5 million.
Quarterly net sales were $216.8 million, or 14 percent higher compared to 2010's $191.0 million, reflecting a 11 percent increase in units shipped and a higher pass-through pricing of aluminum. Two analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated revenues of 204.95 million.
