Former "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" director Julie Taymor has pointed the finger at U2's Bono and The Edge for the show's struggles getting off the ground. Taymor has been locked in legal battles with the show's producers since being fired and now says the rockers are to blame for the show's stunted development.
Taymor filed suit with the show's producers over her firing and they were quick to file a countersuit alleging that she was to blame for racking up the largest production tab in Broadway history. In response to the countersuit, however, Taymor says things would have moved faster if Bono and The Edge were more accommodating:
"The producers' effort to hold Taymor responsible for damages for failing to make improvements to the show as an author ignores the reality that the conduct of Bono and Edge — the musical's other primary creative team members — severely hampered timely improvements to the musical," Taymor's legal team alleges in a court filing.
