Neil Young's collaboration with Jonathan Demme, Neil Young Journeys, has been given a theatrical release date of June 29.
The film follows Young at the end of his 2011 solo tour, with Young talking about his childhood and the changing landscape of his Canadian hometown (Omemee, Ontario) and surroundings over the years as he prepares for the tour's last two shows in Toronto's Massey Hall. Sony Pictures Classics will be releasing the film.
Young previously collaborated with Demme on the film Neil Young Trunk Show and was also featured in the 2006 film Neil Young: Heart of Gold.
He will be releasing two albums with Crazy Horse later on in the year (the fully-finished Americana and a yet-to-be-finalized second album).
Earlier in the year, Young gave a hint of the sound on the new records, telling Rolling Stone: "Americana hasn't come out yet and it has a choir in it that sings with Crazy Horse. A very young choir of children. It's songs we all know."
