Yoko Ono Denies John Lennon Had Bulimia

Yoko Ono Denies John Lennon Had Bulimia

Yoko Ono has spoken out against a new book that suggests that John Lennon suffered from the eating disorder bulimia before his death.

In her new book BackStage Pass VIP, writer Debra Sharon Davis details Lennon's habits of binging and purging on unhealthy foods like cereal and ice cream.

"Lennon was confused about his obsession with food. Lennon was surrounded by talented musicians, but many had drinking and drug problems - so it was hard for them to see Lennon's purging behavior as extraordinary," Davis says in the book.

Yoko denies the claims, however, saying that Lennon had a very healthy diet with only the occasional indulgence:

"John did not have an eating disorder. Sometimes he slipped and ate a bar of chocolate. His diets included vegetarian diet, macrobiotic diet and, very rarely a juice-only diet. All of the above are internationally approved health diets."
