Britney Spears has rebuffed an offer of $10 million to join the cast of The X Factor for its upcoming second season. In lieu of the Factor spot, sources say Spears is considering a run of shows in Las Vegas.

"The timing is perfect. Brit would love to connect with fans on a weekly basis and loves working on TV after several guest appearances on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother," a source had previously told the Daily Mail.

Spears' fiancé/agent Jason Trawick was said to be negotiating the contract, but the two sides were apparently far apart on remuneration. Spears' people were reportedly looking to get $16 million.

Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey's names have also been floated as replacements for Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul for the hit-show's next season.
