American Idiot, the Green Day musical, is getting a spring West Coast run from March 13 to April 22 at Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre.

"The show is sort of saying how messed up it is to be growing up in America today in a post-9/11 world," Jake Epstein one of the principles for the L.A. run explained to Los Angeles Downtown News. "You have a character that joins the Army and ends up losing a leg. You have a character that spirals in a world of drugs. And you have my character, who doesn't want to get up off his couch and do anything."

The Broadway run of the show featured an appearance from Green Day front man, Billie Joe Armstrong.

Armstrong's character, St. Jimmy, is a drug dealing adrenaline junkie. As the plot develops, it is revealed that St. Jimmy is a psychic projection of the main character, Johnny.
