Japan's Jan. Industrial Output Growth Revised Down

Japanese industrial production grew 1.9 percent month-on-month in January, instead of 2 percent, final data from the Ministry of Economy,Trade and Industry showed Wednesday. Annually, production declined 1.3 percent.

Shipments decreased 0.9 percent in January from a month ago compared to the initial estimate of 0.7 percent drop. The increase in inventory was revised down to 3 percent from 3.1 percent. On a yearly basis, shipments dipped 1.5 percent, while inventory rose 2.5 percent.

Meanwhile, capacity utilization increased at a faster pace of 3.4 percent on a monthly comparison in January, following a 3.1 percent rise a month ago.
