Royal Dutch Shell Names Hans Wijers Deputy Chairman, Senior Independent Director

Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDS-A: Quote, RDSA.L, RDSB.L, RDS-B) announced that Hans Wijers, a non-executive director of the company, chairman of the Remuneration Committee and a member of the Nomination and Succession Committee, has been appointed as deputy chairman and senior independent director, effective May 23, 2012.

Wijers will succeed Lord Kerr of Kinlochard who, as announced on February 1, 2012, will be standing down as a non-executive director of the company with effect from the close of business of the 2012 Annual General Meeting.

In addiiton, Josef Ackermann, a non-executive director since 2008 and a member of the Remuneration Committee, has been appointed a member of the Nomination and Succession Committee with effect from May 23, 2012. Also, Nigel Sheinwald, who will be standing for election as a non-executive director of the company at the 2012 Annual General Meeting, has been appointed a member of the Corporate and Social Responsibility Committee with effect from July 1, 2012.

NASA's Cassini spacecraft, now exploring Saturn, will take a picture of Earth from a distance of hundreds of millions of miles on July 19. NASA is inviting the public to help acknowledge the historic interplanetary portrait as it is being taken. Earth will appear as a small, pale blue dot between the rings of Saturn in the image, which will be part of a mosaic, or multi-image portrait, of the A leading indicator of Australian economic activity continued to signal above-trend growth for the economy in the coming quarters, a report from Westpac and Melbourne Institute showed Wednesday. Publishing and design software maker Adobe Systems Inc. said Tuesday after the markets closed that its second quarter profit fell 66% from last year, hurt by lower revenue as well as higher costs and expenses. However, the company's quarterly earnings per share, excluding items, came in above analysts' expectations and its quarterly revenue was in line with analysts' forecast.
