Mumford and Sons will perform for President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron at a White House state dinner on Thursday, March 15.

Cameron personally extended the invite to the group, while Obama did the same to R&B crooner John Legend.

Previously, Cameron revealed his indie tastes saying he was a fan of the Smiths, prompting a stern rejoinder from Johnny Marr:

"I forbid you to like [the Smiths]."

The dinner is expected to be well-attended with 1,100 persons on the guest list.

Earlier in the week, Obama and Cameron took in a basketball game. Cameron told The Metro that relations between the two are friendly:

"I think the special relationship survives. It's increasingly strong, based on common interests and common values. I'm very glad I do get on so well with Barack Obama."
