Turkish Consumer Confidence Improves For Fourth Month

Turkey's consumer sentiment improved for the fourth consecutive month in February, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute showed Friday.

The consumer confidence indicator increased to 93.2 in February from 92.2 in January. The latest reading is the highest since September, when it was 93.7.

Among sub-indices, the index which measures the consumers' purchasing power in the next period improved to 92.1 from 90.8. The assessment of the present purchasing power compared to the past six months, increased to 87.1 from 86.6 in the previous month.

The index for the view on the general economic situation over the next three months advanced to 94.5 from 93.3 in February. Consumers' expectation of the job opportunities improved during the month, with the corresponding index rising to 94.5 from 94.3 in January.

The indicator which tracks buying condition of durable goods climbed to 98.0 from 96.1 as consumers consider the present situation as favorable for making big purchases.
