John Corbett, who played a bit role as a charming town drunk on NBC's drama "Parenthood," is heading up a new drama set for CBS this fall. The role marks Corbett's return to CBS, where his career was launched in the 1990s on "Northern Exposure." The program, "Widow Detective," features Corbett as a well-respected police officer who "becomes a surrogate husband, lover and father to the families of partners who died in the line of duty," according to the producers' description.
In the past, Corbett has starred in "United States of Tara," "Lucky" and "Sex in the City."
Carol Mendelsohn ("CSI: Miami," "CSI: New York," "The Defenders," and "Melrose Place") and David Hubbard write and create; Hubbard and Julie Weitz produce.
