George Clooney was arrested Friday, March 16 in Washington, D.C. while he was attending a Sudan protest.

The 50-year-old actor joined in the protest located outside the Sudanese embassy, which was being held to bring attention to the country's president, Omar al-Bashir. He was asked by the authorities three times to leave, but resisted orders.

Before Clooney was taken away he said, "This is for the government in Khartoum to stop randomly killing its own innocent men, women and children. Stop raping them and stop starving them. That's all we ask," reports USA Today.

Clooney has recently spoken up about the crisis in Sudan and has said if steps are not taken in the next few months: "We're going to have a real humanitarian disaster."

He's also impressed with the way President Barack Obama has remained active with the situation in Sudan.

On Wednesday Clooney went as far as getting up in front of Congress to inform them of the "campaign of murder" occurring in Sudan.
