Osama bin Laden ordered his al-Qaeda network to organize special cells in Afghanistan and Pakistan to attack the aircraft of U.S. President Barack Obama and Gen. David Petraeus, according to several reports. Petraeus commanded the U.S. forces in Afghanistan at the time.
The plan was found out in documents taken from bin Laden's compound by U.S. forces on May 2, the night he was killed. Administration officials reportedly said that the plan was never a serious threat.
According to the reports, the man bin Laden hoped would carry out the attacks on Obama and Petraeus was the Pakistani terrorist Ilyas Kashmiri. Kashmiri was killed in a US air attack a month after the death of Bin Laden.
