Mitt Romney was the landslide winner of Sunday's Puerto Rican Republican Primary, inching closer in his bid to land the GOP's presidential nomination in November.
The former Massachusetts governor was called the winner by CNN and others shortly after the polls closed, amassing 83 percent of the vote with 18 percent of the precincts reporting.
Former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum was well behind with just 8 percent. Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and Texas congressman Ron Paul did not compete in Puerto Rico.
By virtue of the lopsided win, Romney will be awarded 20 delegates.
The race continues Tuesday with the Illinois Primary, which has 69 delegates in play. Louisiana with 46 delegates is on Saturday.
Then there's a break until April 3, which sees primaries in Wisconsin (42 delegates), Maryland (37 delegates) and the District of Columbia (19 delegates).
Heading into the contest, CNN had Romney with 489 delegates, followed by Santorum at 234, Gingrich at 139 and Paul with 66. The presidential nomination requires at least 1,144 delegates.
