U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman has begun a week-long tour of eight European nations.
Grossman is traveling through Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Poland, the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Belgium to consult with the United States' NATO Allies and Partners in advance of the NATO summit in Chicago in May.
In the lead up to the summit, we are focused on how best to support sustainable and sufficient Afghan National Security Forces for Afghanistan's future and how we can further strengthen the NATO-Afghanistan Enduring Partnership, the U.S. State Department said in a statement on Monday. "Chicago will therefore be a critical milestone in our effort in Afghanistan, as leaders come together to discuss transition and the future of our support for Afghanistan and its security forces," the statement added.
Ambassador Grossman visits the capital cities of Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Warsaw, Berlin, Paris, and Brussels. He will also visit the Hague, and participate in the Brussels Forum.
