Finland's unemployment rate decreased from last year in February, data released by Statistics Finland showed Tuesday.
The unemployment rate decreased to 7.7 percent in February from 8.4 percent in the same month last year. Economists were looking for an unemployment rate of 8 percent.
The unemployment rate among young people, aged between 15 and 24, was 20.5 percent during the month, 0.8 percentage points lower than in the previous year.
The number of jobless persons decreased to around 204,000 in February from about 221,000 a year earlier.
The employment rate, meanwhile, moved up to 68 percent in February this year from 67.1 percent in February 2011. The number of employed persons advanced to around 2.46 million from about 2.43 million last year.
