Keith Urban has posted a sign outside his Georgia estate which reads "No Coal or Coal Seam Gas." Urban and his wife Nicole Kidman have joined their neighbors in protest against plans to expand coal and gas mining in their area.
The Southern Highlands Coal Action Group is the environmental organization behind the effort, saying:
"We are fighting to protect the land, air, water and amenity of the Highlands against destructive mining activities which expropriate the profits and leave the social and environmental costs for the community to bear."
"We are looking for the NSW State Government to redress the imbalance between the disenfranchised landowners and residents, and the powerful coal miners and gas companies," they added.
Urban and Kidman reportedly bought their sign last month at the Moss Vale Farmers Market for $20.
