The Beatles' famous 1968 movie and album Yellow Submarine is being restored and re-released on May 28. For this release the team decided to update the film frame-by-frame, instead of using automated software to digitally clean up the film.
There will be a short making-of documentary, audio commentaries, behind-the-scene photographs and a 16-page booklet, which includes an essay by Pixar and Walt Disney chief, John Lasseter in the re-packaged film.
Lasseter writes: "As a fan of animation and as a filmmaker, I tip my hat to the artists of Yellow Submarine, whose revolutionary work helped pave the way for the fantastically diverse world of animation that we all enjoy today."
Before the release of the Yellow Submarine DVD, Blu-Ray and repackaged soundtrack, a book of the screenplay from the film will be published by Candlewick Press on April 26.
