The Allman Brothers Band covered Neil Young's "Southern Man" last week while in concert at New York City's Beacon Theatre.
When the track was released, it prompted an angry response from Lynyrd Skynyrd, who recorded "Sweet Home Alabama," with a potshot at Young in the lyrics:
"I hope Neil Young will remember / Southern man don't need him around anyhow."
The Allman Brothers also did a version of Fleetwood Mac's "Gold Dust Woman."
The group has two more dates (Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25) of their ten-date run at the Beacon. The group has played a multi-night stand at the venue nearly every year since 1989 and kicked off this year's 10-night stand on March 9.
Last year was one of only two years since 1989 when the Allmans haven't played at the Beacon Theatre.
