The highest ranking member of Indonesia's Muslim community, Council of Ulema chairman Cholil Ridwan, has warned his countrymen and women to avoid an upcoming concert by Lady Gaga.

"(The concert is) intended to destroy the nation's morality," he told the Times of India. "She's from the West, and she often shows her private parts while performing."

"I am sure they know what is good and bad," added Ridwan. "However, I hope Lady Gaga can also wear a proper [dress] in her show," he said while admitting that it was still, in the end, the choice of the individual.

Ridwan also admitted to never witnessing a Gaga concert himself.

25,000 tickets to her Jakarta show were sold in under two hours on March 10, after first becoming available.
