Justin Bieber has released "Boyfriend," the lead single from his forthcoming sophomore effort, Believe.
"If I was your boyfriend, never let you go/ Keep you on my arm girl, you'd never be alone/ I can be a gentleman, anything you want/ If I was your boyfriend, I'd never let you go," say the lyrics on the track.
"When I was writing the raps for it and the verses I was basically thinking about things I would do if I was your boyfriend," Bieber said in a behind-the-scenes video posted to his website.
Several critics have noted that the Mike Posner-produced track shows a new level of maturity from the young pop phenom.
The song has reached number one on the iTunes single chart.
