Afren plc (AFR.L) Tuesday posted a sharply higher 2011 pretax profit of $221 million, compared to the prior-year's $79 million. Per-share earnings went up to 11.5 cents from 4.8 cents, with earnings from continuing operations of 11.9 cents per share in 2011 and 4.9 cents per share a year ago.
Revenue for the period was $596.7 million, rising from 2010's $319.4 million, reflecting start of production at the Ebok field. The company's 2011 revenues estimate, as of January 23, 2012, saw revenues of around $600 million.
