Medvedev To Romney: Use Your Head

Responding to Mitt Romney's characterization of Russia as the "number one geopolitical foe" of the United States, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev advised the Republican presidential candidates to "use their heads."

Speaking at the end of nuclear security summit in South Korea, Medvedev said the number one foe remark "smacks of Hollywood" and a different era in Russian-U.S. relations.

Medvedev, who will step down as Russia's president in early May, also offered two pieces of advice to the GOP contenders.

"That they use their head and consult their reason when they formulate their positions, and that they check the time -- it is now 2012, not the mid-1970s," Medvedev said, according to AFP.

Romney joined his fellow Republicans in blasting President Obama on Monday after the president was caught on a hot microphone telling Medvedev that he would have more "flexibility" on missile defense following his "last election."

In an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, Romney said, "Who is it that always stands up with the world's worst actors? It's always Russia, typically with China alongside."

"In terms of a geopolitical foe, a nation that's on the Security Council, and as of course a massive nuclear power, Russia is the geopolitical foe," he added. "The idea that our president is planning on doing something with them that he's not willing to tell the American people before the election is something I find very, very alarming."
