FBI Arrests Army Deserter For Stealing Identity Of Paul Allen

The FBI has arrested an army deserter for allegedly stealing the identity of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.

Brandon Lee Price, 28, is accused of Allen's identity by calling Citibank and successfully changing the Washington address of Allen's account to his own address in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, according to the indictment. Price then had the bank send him a debit card.

"Your affinity notes that the Paul Allen in question is the co-founder of Microsoft and resides in Washington state," according to court papers.

With Allen's debit card, Price paid $658.81 to the Armed Forces Bank to make a delinquent payment on a loan. He also made a purchase of $278.18 at the GameStop store in East Liberty, Pittsburgh, and attempted to charge $1.00 for a purchase at the Family Dollar store.

Video surveillance at both the GameStop and Family Dollar stores "shows an African-American male attempting the purchase wearing a black and gray windbreaker style jacket bearing the name 'Army'..." that was Price, according to the indictment.

FBI investigators later discovered that Price was currently absent without leave from the Army and classified as a deserter.

Price is now in federal custody, according to Seattle Weekly.
