Chloe Moretz has confirmed that she has been offered the leading role in the upcoming reboot of the classic 1970s horror film "Carrie." Moretz had been rumored as a possible choice for the starring role and confirmed the news via Twitter earlier this week.

Other stars linked with the project thus far include Haley Bennett, Dakota Fanning and Shailene Woodley. Moretz thanks studio MGM and, while she didn't say she has accepted, things seem promising:

"Never been so happy in my life! Thank you Kim Peirce and thank u MGM for the chance of a lifetime I will never forget!"

The news comes at a busy time for Moretz, who will next hit the big screen alongside Johnny Depp and Eva Green and Michelle Pfeiffer in Tim Burton's new flick "Dark Shadows."
