Estonia's retail sales increased sharply in February, but the rate of growth slowed from the previous month, data released by Statistics Estonia showed Friday.
Retail sales volume, excluding sales of motor vehicles and motorcycles, increased 12 percent on an annual basis in February, slower than the 16 percent growth recorded in January. In December 2011, sales rose 6 percent annually.
Retail sales of manufactured goods climbed 16 percent year-on-year. Sales of pharmaceutical goods and cosmetics and sales in stores selling textiles, clothing and footwear increased the most during the month.
Compared to January, retail sales deceased 5 percent in February. On a seasonally and working-day adjusted basis, sales remained unchanged month-on-month, the agency said.
