Italy Hourly Wages Remain Unchanged In February

Hourly wages of Italian employees remained unchanged in February, after rising modestly in the previous month, data released by statistical office Istat showed Friday.

The index of wages, according to collective agreements per hour, remained unchanged from the previous month in February, following a revised 0.8 percent increase in January.

Wages according to collective agreements per employee also remained unchanged from the previous month in February, after moving up 0.7 percent in January.

On an annual basis, the growth in hourly wages held steady at 1.4 percent for the third consecutive month during the month.

The statistical office today said Italy's annual inflation accelerated unexpectedly to a five-month high of 3.8 percent in March from 3.4 percent in February.
