Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (TEVA: Quote) announced the launch of the authorized generic of Provigil (modafinil). Provigil is marketed by Cephalon, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Teva.

Teva noted that Provigil will continue to be manufactured under the brand product's new drug application at the same facility where it is currently produced. Shipping of the product has begun.

As per the IMS sales data, the brand product had annual sales of around $1.1 billion in US.

After reporting a sharp drop in new orders for manufactured durable goods in the previous month, the Commerce Department released a report on Friday showing that durable goods orders rebounded by more than anticipated in the month of April. The report said durable goods orders surged up by 3.3 percent in April after tumbling by a revised 5.9 percent in March.
