Global Payments Inc. (GPN) sank sharply late Friday morning, following reports that MasterCard (MA) and Visa (V) were affected by a potential security breach. The breach reportedly stemmed from a third-party vendor and not the internal systems of the credit card companies.
Global Payments was halted around noon and did not re-open before the session close. Shares finished down by 4.73 at $47.50 on the highest volume of the year. The stock sank to a 2-month low and fell below its 50-day moving average.
